What promotion means

Promoting an agent creates a team member record linked to that agent. The agent keeps its configuration — active version, Focuses, skills, assigned Actions — but also gains a seat on your organization team. It appears alongside humans on My Team and becomes eligible for work routed through Evolve. Think of it as hiring the agent: configuration in Agent Manager is the interview and onboarding; promotion is when they get a badge and a desk.

Before you promote

Promotion is for finalized agents — not first drafts.
Start with one promoted agent on low-risk Evolve requests before assigning high-stakes work.

What happens after promotion

Promoted agents participate in Evolve’s execution environment with the same instructions, linked context, and assigned Actions they had when promoted — enriched with whatever context Evolve supplies for each task.

Evolve tasks and requests

On Evolve, requests move from scoping through build and review. Promoted agent team members can:
  • Take assigned tasks on active requests
  • Execute work using their Focus, skills, and assigned Actions
  • Appear in team pickers when you staff a request
Human teammates still own judgment calls, approvals, and client communication where your process requires it. Use promotion for agents that should do repeatable work, not replace every human role. See Agents in Tracks for a related pattern — agents as overseers on operational workflows.

Demoting or deactivating

If an agent should stop receiving team work, deactivate the team member or remove promotion from Agent Manager (exact control depends on your workspace). The agent configuration remains in My Agents for future use; it simply no longer appears as an assignable teammate.
  1. Build — create agent, prompt, Focus, linked context
  2. Extend — import and assign skills for specialized procedures
  3. Test — Lab and Chat Review until behavior is stable
  4. Activate — save and set the right active version
  5. Promote — add to team when ready for Evolve
  6. Monitor — Chat Review and Evolve request outcomes; iterate versions and skills
